Dr. Blake Balog is a graduate from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. Originally, Blake is from a cattle and grain farm south of Milk River. While growing up he was heavily involved in sports and 4-H. After high school, Blake completed three years of an Animal Science degree at the University of Saskatchewan before making it into the veterinary college in Saskatoon. His main areas of interest revolve around cattle medicine and herd production. He has a specific interest in bull breeding soundness, cattle reproductive momentum, and lameness in cattle. Outside of the profession, Blake enjoys spending time with his ever growing family, playing basketball, and loves fishing!
I grew up in Maidstone, SK where I spent a lot of time watching, or getting in the way, while my grandparents or aunt and uncle worked cattle. I am a 2017 graduate of WCVM in Saskatoon and a strong interest in cow-calf, feedlot, and dairy production medicine brought me to Bow Valley Livestock Health. A great perk of my job is occasionally helping clients work cattle, especially moving animals through a wide range of really great handling systems I come across on-farm. My work interests are cattle vaccines and infectious diseases while in my spare time I enjoy hockey, golf, slopitch, fishing, or any outdoor activity really. I’m also kept busy by my trusty sidekick Pete the beagle who is often riding shotgun while I’m on the road for farm calls.
Dr Tom Daborn took the decision to move over here from the UK in late 2018. He is a recent graduate of the Royal Veterinary College in London, with a keen interest in all aspects of cattle health and surgery as well as sheep production. Having made the move to one of the top beef producing areas of the world, Tom hopes to gain as much knowledge and experience as possible! Tom grew up in the countryside of the south of England, having kept a flock of Sheep with his father for over 10 years, beekeeping, growing a few pigs and milking for a local dairy farm.
Fishing and hiking are the mainstays of Toms spare time and he hopes to explore the wider area as he settles in to his new home.
Terry has been a receptionist at Bow Valley since 1983. She is our Large Animal Director of Technical Services, which means she is the “go to” receptionist for all our large animal producers. She lives along the Red Deer River with her husband and three girls where they operate a cow calf operation. They have 2 horses, one dog and six cats.
Brittany graduated from Olds College in 2016. Growing up on a family farm near Carbon gave her a love for all animals but her love of cattle drove her passion in becoming a large animal RVT. When not at work Brittany enjoys spending time with her dogs and helping on the family farm.
BVLH also works closely with the BVVC front staff who may at times assist with filling orders/booking appointments.
